Welcome to the adventure! Joining Cub Scouts involves three main parts: National/Council Registration, Pack Dues, and Personal Gear. Here is the breakdown for the 2026 scouting year.
These fees are paid directly to the National and Council organizations via MyScouting.org when you register online. They fund insurance, background checks, and professional staff support.
National Registration Fee: $85 (Annual)
Council Program Fee (GGAC): $71 (Annual)
While our local Council fees are currently frozen at $71 through November 2026, we anticipate they will align with the standard Golden Gate Area Council rate (currently $149) starting in later in 2026. We will update this page as more information becomes available.
Scout Life Magazine (Optional): $15 (Annual)
These dues stay 100% local to Pack 16. They pay for our awards,monthly activities, meeting supplies, community service projects, and special events like the Blue & Gold Dinner.
Annual Pack Dues: $70
How to pay: Remit via Venmo to @sonoma-cubscouts
We use two types of uniforms:
"Class A" (Formal Uniform): ~$80 (can be found lightly used on ebay)
1st graders and older ( shirt, hat, belt, and council/unit patches).
Kindergarteners (Lions): Only need a simple "Lion" t-shirt.
"Class B" (Informal T-Shirt): Provided for free by the Pack for outdoor adventures and service projects.
Pack 16 Hat: $25
A high-quality hat that lasts your Scout's entire career (K-5th grade). Purchase directly from the Pack. While rank specific hats exist we prefer to keep the costs down by having a hat that scouts can buy once.Â
Patch Vest (Recommended): ~$11
A red fleece vest used to display all the fun patches your Scout earns. These are available on Amazon.
